TOP CEOs IN EAST AFRICA

PACESETTERS AWARDS EAST AFRICAN CHAPTER

 Press Release

A REPORT ON TOP CEOs IN EAST AFRICA

You might be asking yourself who is the best or top Executive in the East African region and even in the world. Based on the research done by Jubilant Stewards of Africa (JSA) the organizers of the Pacesetters Award (PSA), an annual Industry leadership Recognition that celebrates key industry leaders for their innovation, quality products, and service delivery, job creation, exemplary leadership, growing the economy, and transforming the society, the majority of the top CEOs running high-end businesses in East Africa; Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania among other lake region countries included being males, with about 68% compared to women with around 32%. This research mainly focused on 10 countries in East African region namely; Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Somalia, South Sudan, Djibouti, Eritrea, and Ethiopia. The survey looked into top executives who own or run the leading institutions in East African countries.

A majority of business leaders in East Africa feel there is little chance the region’s economy could tip into a slump over the next year, a viewpoint that is in discrepancy with the view of top global corporate chiefs. This comes just as Kenya as a country faces an invocation of problems ranging from escalating debt to rising and falling inflation and growing hunger caused by economic collapse and drought.

The majority of top CEOs running multinational outfits expect the global economy to slide into recession, citing the shocks caused by the covid-19 pandemic and climate disasters. This report further shows that 59% of the CEOs drawn from various parts of the countries in East Africa expect earnings to decline by 10% in the wake of the anticipated collapse.

The survey was carried out between March 8, 2022, and April 24, 2023, and sampled around 150 business heads in East Africa, 34 of whom are based in Kenya and whose companies have more than ksh.50 billion with Nairobi City being ranked as the 4th Richest African City and 74th globally.

Just like how Pacesetters awards are based on the economic and social impact rather than the balance sheet this list is based on social impact and not the balance sheet of the respective institutions. The winners in various categories are carefully selected through a competitive and thorough process involving a public vote and a panel of judges. Various institutions have shown interest to partner with organizers to ensure the success of this year’s Awards in various countries.

Zenka Finance team receives Pacesetters Awards Trophy and Certificate from Jubilant Stewards of Africa team at Panari Hotel Nairobi on 17th June 2022.

ABOUT PACESETTERS AWARDS

Pacesetters Awards (PSA) survey is a one-year Industry leadership Recognition appraisal initiated by Jubilant Stewards of Africa (JSA), a Non-Governmental Organization, to celebrate industry leaders for their innovation, and quality products, services, job creation, exemplary leadership, growing the economy and transforming the society. The winners in various categories were competitively selected through a thorough process that partly involved a public vote and a panel of judges.

PSA seeks to encourage organizations and individuals to go beyond the call of duty in their service to humanity. PSA awards don’t just look at excellence as being top in the industry but look at the processes involved and how organizations go out of their way to serve humanity. It also purposes to promote best practices and ethics in industry leadership. The awards are based on the Performance Index (OPI) where processes and systems are scrutinized and benchmarked against globally acceptable standards. Pacesetters Awards recognize and celebrate the key players in various categories who have over the years achieved outstanding results and made positive contributions to their industry growth.
